How The Candles Work

When the candle is lit, the slight chimney effect inside the Ear Candle and the vibration of the rising air column serve to gently massage the eardrum and promote secretion in the sinuses. This immediately regulates ear pressure. There can often times be felt a soothing, light sensation in the ear/head area.

As well as this, the locally applied warmth also stimulates peripheral blood circulation, improves the immune system and strengthans the cleansing effect of the lymph glands. At the same time, important acupuncture points and reflex zones are stimulated, which is why the treament also incorporates lymphatic massage.

After lighting the candle the ingredients within the linen flax are vaporized and drawn down in inside of the candle. A sizzling sound is also experienced by the client which represents the ingredients being vaporized at different rates. Oxygen in the ear canal is replaced with the vapours moving down the candle through the filter at the base, with the up draught travelling in the middle of the candle. The heat generated causes the internal temperature to change, therefore changing the pressure in the sinus and nasal areas. Clients sometimes experience a trickling sensation down the throat when this expansion happens.

The herbs in BIOSUN Ear Candles have been used for centuries for their healing qualities and effect in the treatment of head and ear related problems.

Background and History of Hopi Indians

Hopi means peace, so the Hopi Indians are people of peace. The Hopi's were the first Pueblo Indians of the North American Continent to settle. For many centuries they lived in harmony with nature and the original universal laws passed down by the great high spirit, known to them as Massauu.

The Hopi's were the first to introduce this therapy to Europe, and that is why their name has been adopted for the  Hopi Ear Candles treatment. The Hopi nation has an extensive knowledge of healing and have a very spiritual lifestyle. The shamen healer's of the nation tradiotionally used ear candles. Their historic routes can be found in Asia but can be traced back to the Indians of North and South America. Ancient wall paintings show there importance in initiation rituals and healing ceremonies of the fire clan. Hopi Indians live in mud dwellings, with a roof of sticks, grass and mud. Houses were joined together to form villages (Pueblos in spanish), on mesa palins. Hopi indians always keep the peace, and stay away from conflict. They are agriculturists, and even today they still cencentrate on agriculture, namely growing corn.
